HP elitebook laptops have historically been extremely well-built and dependable machines, and the 8570p is certainly no exception. The main body of the laptop yields no flexing whatsoever from the palm rest, the area between the keyboard and display, touchpad, or from the keyboard. Trying to bend the corners of the display results in no distortions, though twisting the entire display (pushing the top-left corner and pulling the top-right corner, for example) will wrap the display by one or two millimeters. Picking up the laptop from the top of the display is no issue thanks to the tough hinges on this laptop.

Even the traditional weak spot of laptop designs, the center of the display lid, barely flexed at all, despite considerable force. The second traditional weak spot on laptops, the area just above the optical drive, only yields a millimeter or two under pressure, leaving the number pad area with some flex whereas the main typing area experiences no flex whatsoever
